López-Guerrero, Miguel. "On Network Resource Allocation using α-Stable Long-Range Dependent Traffic Models". PhD diss., University of Ottawa, 2004. Supervised by Dr. Dimitrios Makrakis and Dr. Luis Orozco-Barbosa.
Dr. Lopez-Guerrero's doctoral research was related to the use of stable non Gaussian stochastic processes in applications of network traffic modeling. In his doctoral dissertation he showed that these models, with different degrees of skewness, are able to appropriately represent the different types of traffic that are carried by present networks. Based on this modeling approach, he investigated the effect of relevant traffic characteristics on network performance and proposed some mechanisms for resource provisioning.
